DIY: Create a Dream Tree for Fall
August 4, 2018
Fall starts Friday, and with this new year you could be expecting new fantasies come true for you. Whether that want is for peace on Earth, finding love, finding a new job, or anything else that would make your life happier, this DIY Dream Tree is an enjoyable way to keep those fantasies near to remind you of who you would like to become and where you want your life. Every leaf on each branch will contain a fantasy (want) you. It is simple (you can do it in a day) and inexpensive, and it adds a warm texture to a room.

Make a Dream Tree on your own, have your family, or give one as a present for someone special.

Put it by the fireplace or in the foyer, or make a smaller version for a tabletop.

This is a kid friendly job too!!

Supplies you will need:
FeltScissorsJute twineBranchesLeavesVaseWhite replicate paperFine-tip permanent pen (such as a Sharpie)Clear tapeDouble sided tape
you are able to find fallen leaves and branches out of your house or in a park. The remaining materials are found in a craft store. Choose a vase strong enough to support your branches. It can be small for a tabletop, or bigger to the flooring.

Step 1. Decide how big you want your Dream Tree to be, and find an appropriate sized vase for this. Then organize your branches inside it and trim as necessary.

Step 2. Create your gathered leaves! Using a pen, trace around your leaves, drawing on their shape onto the felt. Cut out your leaf shape, trimming just within the outline to remove the pen marks.

Step 3. Make a hanger for each leaf. Cut a little hole toward the top of the leaf with the tip of your scissors. Then loop a bit of jute twine through the foliage and secure it to your foliage with a knot in the base (see photo). Leave three inches, then make another knot to make a loop. Cut off the excess.

Step 4. Grab a fine-tip permanent pen, white copy paper and clear tape.
Write your fantasies on the newspaper. The height of your phrases must be shorter than the height of a piece of tape.

Cut around each wish that is written.

Cut a piece of tape long enough to pay each cut piece, place over the newspaper, and cut away the excess.

Step 5. Grab your dual sided tape. Put a bit on the rear side of your wish paper.

Then press on the side back on the felt leaf.

Step 6. Hang your leaves on the branches. I hope your dreams come true!

Use this project as a learning tool for kids by renaming it “The Thankful Tree.” Instead of writing fantasies, everyone is able to write what they’re thankful for. This is a superb idea to do on a rainy day or as a Thanksgiving job.

“I am grateful for the Earth!”

Happy Fall everyone!
